Portal 2 Crashes When Loading Level

I'm having some issues with Portal 2 crashing that I think are related to my graphics card. Here are some specs for a point of reference:i7 2600K OC to 4.0 GHzEVGA GTX 570 stock clocksI played through Portal 2 once already without issue using 8xAA and 8x filtering with max settings on everything else. However I just bumped up to 16xQ CSAA and 16X filtering with max settings. Now Portal 2 shuts down after 5-15 min of gameplay. I've been monitoring my graphics card with EVGAs precision tuner and with the settings maxed out I'm getting about 60 fps and my GPUs temp is sitting around 50 C. Extend volume greyed out windows 7. Even though the performance of my GPU seems to be fine I'm still getting crashes from portal 2 consistently.I'm still new to some of this stuff but the performance specs I'm seeing haven't raised any red flags so any suggestions would be appreciated. I know the easy answer would be to drop the graphics settings down but I'm still curious about what might be happening.-SteveEdit: I've gone back and reduced my graphics settings to 8xAA and 8x anisotropic filtering and I'm still getting crashes.

When

I'm starting to think this might not be hardware related.Edit2: Figured it out! I had a corrupted file in the game's cache. FYI for anyone else with the same problem follow these steps:Right click Portal 2 in your library in SteamClick on PropertiesIn the 'Local Files' tab, select 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache.' Download a replacement fileHope this helps!

According to your log-file Doomsday crashed during the attempt to load the second level E1M2. The last available log entry shows that Doomsday's audio system started to playback the music 'intr' looped. The next expected log-entry should read that the audio system starts playback of the music 'e1m2'.I think its a good idea to start by verifying that your HERETIC.WAD file is in proper order by checking its hash checksum. Please download the small tool HashMyFiles v2.24 x64 (84 KB):.

Portal 2 Not Launching

Extract HashMyFiles.exe to any folder you like and run it. Add the file HERETIC.WAD to its interface via drag & drop. The hash codes are generated automatically.

To save the result press Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+S and type in a filename. Finally upload the resulting text file to this forum, just like you did with the log-file doomsday.out.
