Total War Warhammer Empire Campaign

So any advice for playing Empire? Got to around turn 120 with Empire and was doing well until Chaos destroyed everything. Way I did it was just try to keep everyone happy, had one army with Franz that just got the first region and then I didn't wage war on anyone, just waited until they attacked me and then got two armies so I always had reinforcments and started moving out from there. Eventually became powerful enough that most of the factions stopped invading and then built infrastructure, but then 12 Chaos armies suddenly appeared out of nowhere and lost it all. So that was fun.
I played on very hard and struggled immensely because, I think partially due to difficulty penalties, EVERYONE hated me and attacked me; I mean everyone - Bretonnia, Dwarves, you name it.My advice is you need to pick two directions and stick to them and do everything you can to establish peaceful borders in the other directions. Vampire Counts are probably going to hate you no matter what, so that's a good one.

The offer payment function to give gifts is actually quite useful in this TW - try giving some gifts early to bretonnians or dwarves enough so that they like you enough to sign non-aggression or trade - once you have that factions very rarely betray you. If you can establish a choke point city you can hold, build defensive structures in it and consider stationing a garrison as well.

This is one of the reasons I recommend going after VCs - there are no good chokepoints to the east and their armies will run all around your territory if you let them. That said I still got wrecked on VH when Chaos shower up - I think I will try again on Hard perhaps. I'm finding empire quite confusing and difficult, even as a total war vet. It's like, turn 120. Archon has invaded, and i'm still using bloody swordsmen and spearmen and crossbows because I haven't been able to hold on to altdorf proper for more than a few turns.Since I killed the successionists, random orks were sacking altdorf province with a full stack in turn 5, and then some random dwarves almost wiped me out for no reason. I made a lot of alliances with the nearby empire, but then one of the ♥♥♥♥♥ went to war with another that I was allied with, so no matter what I chose i'd get heaps of negative. Then more dwarves and empire were at war with me. Not much ever happened, but it was enough for me to never hold on to all 4 in altdorf.
Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear is a treasure hunt in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and pertains to finding the diagrams for Wolf School Gear, which was added on as a DLC. The armor diagrams are in the old signal tower, an unmarked location just south of the Kaer Morhen signpost. As part of week 5's DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we now have a Scavenger Hunt for the Wolf School Gear. The set includes chest armor, steel and silver swords, gauntlets, boots, and trousers, all of which are upgradeable. Mastercrafted and Grandmaster versions further reinforce. Jun 4, 2018 - The Wolven Witcher Gear Set can be found in Kaer Morhen (Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear). It consists of 6 pieces - 4 armor pieces,. Witcher 3 griffin school gear.
Then when I finally got it together, started a level 3 barracks and organising. Built a foundtry for mortars and was on the way to an armory so I could finally get greatswords and such. From the south even. Once again, can't hold on to all 4 places in altdorf because they can run in, raze a settlement, then run away and I can't catch them because I can only afford one army.Still, I endure, and I've confederated the next door neighbour whos wiped out the vampire counts, theres only one dwarf tribe left, and mariumburg owns pretty much the entire empire (And somehow isn't at war with chaos so they go right through and raid me) but i'm holding the line.
I'm finding chaos very hard to beat since i can't get greatswords or reiksgard or cannons or anything, but i'm holding the line and the AI is wipng each other out.Maybe i'll still finish the campaign, but i'll have to start again so I can actually see the empire's cool units some time!TL;DR empire is ♥♥♥♥ed, everyone hates you and this new system (didn't play rome 2) with settlements means I can never seem to afford a military unless I go full economic - then I can't make a military to expand! Feel very stuck. My advice as the Empire (Which I just beat on legendary) is try to make as many friends as you can. Gifts are a handy way to do this and conquer those who declare war on you. If you happen to get into a war with dwarfs what I highly advise you do is take them down to 1 city and then seige them and try to pressure them into becoming a vassel. With enough allies and vassels Chaos becomes extremely easy to manage because the bonuses the AI gets they can field more armies than you. Telling them to raid the North or attack the Chaos armies is very handy be sure to work with them.
After Chaos is defeated make a mad dash to the east and conquer the vamps which should once again be very easy with all your allies. After that you've won the game.
